47. European Youth Meeting

Pilgrimage of Trust

„Strangers can help us discern the presence of Christ and once more grasp that he remains with us always. (…) Will we dare to set out again not alone but with others, mutually enriched, as we journey together?”
(brother Matthew, prior of Taizé community since 2023. Letter for 2024)

„As we continue the “pilgrimage of trust on earth” that brings together young people from many countries, we understand more and more deeply this reality: all humanity forms a single family and God lives within every human being without exception.”
(brother Aloïs, Taizé community prior until 2023. Letter from Kolkata)

Tallinn

Pilgrimage of Trust continues

At the invitation of the Estonian Council of Churches, the next and 47th Taizé New Year’s meeting of young adults in Europe will take place in Tallinn, the capital of the Republic of Estonia.

The Tallinn meeting is the northernmost Taizé youth meeting in Europe so far. In the Middle Ages, the Old Town of Tallinn was the northernmost Hanseatic city and is also included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Tallinn is one of the best-preserved medieval port cities in Europe. At the same time, Tallinn is also one of the northernmost high-rise cities in the world – there are a total of 98 buildings over 45 meters high, including nine churches.

The Estonian Council of Churches (ECC) is an independent and voluntary association of unions of Christian churches and congregations to contribute to the spiritual development of Estonian society based on Christian principles. A wide representation of different churches ensures good ecumenical cooperation.
